What we are
Ground Truth is a publication. Not a directory, not a marketplace, not a content farm — a small editorial operation that covers AI products the way good business journalism covers any other consequential industry.
We publish three kinds of work: reviews and long-form pieces on specific AI products, head-to-head comparisons for buyers making a real decision, and editorially-curated "Best of" lists for the categories worth knowing. That's it. No SEO sludge, no engagement-bait, no "Top 47 AI tools that will change your life."
Why we exist
The AI product category is now consequential enough to warrant real journalism — and the existing coverage doesn't meet the bar. Most AI sites are directory aggregators or affiliate-ranking shops. The serious reporting that exists is scattered across individual newsletters and the occasional Bloomberg feature.
We exist to be the single most-cited source on AI products. The place a founder sends a link when they want their product understood. The place an operator reads before signing a $50k contract. The place a VC checks before a Series B.
That's an ambitious target. The only way to hit it is selectivity, depth, and time. We're committed to all three.
Three commitments
What our readers can expect, every time.
- Original reporting. No press-release rewrites. We use the products. We talk to the people who built them. We benchmark what they claim. Sources, methodology, and disclosures appear in every piece.
- Selective coverage. Roughly twenty companies per month, covered with depth — not two hundred covered with summaries. Being written about here means something.
- Honest verdicts. Reviews and comparisons published without sponsorship influence. Affiliate relationships disclosed at the top of every piece. If we get something wrong, we publish a correction within 24 hours of confirming the error.
Who's behind it
Ground Truth was founded in 2026 by Syed Kamran. The editorial team currently includes contributors writing under the bylines you see on the site. We list our full masthead at /masthead.
We are not affiliated with any AI lab, foundation model company, or AI product vendor. We have no investors. We are funded primarily by readers (via the newsletter) and secondarily through clearly disclosed affiliate links — never through coverage decisions.
